I met Chip Coffey a couple years ago training at Unit 2. I had no clue what I was in for. As soon as we started to grapple, I knew this guy was on a whole other level.

Having competed in Mixed Martial Arts for the past 6 years, I’ve had the opportunity to train at a lot of top level gyms across the country with all different kinds of high level grapplers. I would rank Chip with the best of them. Although, the difference with Chip is his friendly personality and his true willingness and desire to teach. Chip exibits true integrity and is a great influence on my Jiu Jitsu and character.

Whether you’re a beginner to someone who’s grappled their whole life, Chip is a great instructor and training partner that will improve your game I highly encourage anyone that has the opportunity to train with Chip to do so. I’ve been truly blessed to have Chip as a coach and friend.

I've trained with Chip Coffey since 2007. He puts a nice Georgia boy twang into his Jiu-jitsu game....Few people I train with can push me and make me a better grappler the way Chip can. His coaching and grappling styles are both smooth and technical.

I consider myself lucky to have him as a training partner and friend.

I have known and trained with Chip for about 3 years now. Chip is very humble and respectful like a true professional should be. I have looked to chip for advice and help from everything from gi to nogi. Besides being a very talented grappler himself, Chip is also a great instructor. And as modest as Chip is take my word on it. He is one of the best bjj practitioners I have ever trained with or seen train!

I love training here, everyone is great and always willing to help, I joined with absolutely no knowledge of Jiu Jitsu and was immediately taken in as part of the family. The guys I train with have become more than teammates, they are truly some of my best and closest friends. You will not find a better place to train and definitely will not find a better value for the quality of instruction available. Chip Coffey is a world class BJJ competitor with the ability to simplify and breakdown techniques to teach them in a way anyone can grasp. Manu Ntoh is a 6x Muay Thai world champ whose accomplishments speak for themselves. From black belts to white and professional fighters to weekend warriors Coffey BJJ has someting to offer everyone.

When my daughters and I started training at Coffey BJJ over a year ago we had modest goals in mind. We wanted to increase our fitness while learning one of the greatest and most practical martial arts on the planet. We had all trained in Karate and had done some jiu-jitsu in the past but had never been enrolled in a true jiu-jitsu school. I feel that it is very important for my girls to learn an easily applied form of self defense so I talked with Chip, DeSean and Chad at Coffey BJJ. They all assured me that anyone can practice jiu-jitsu and that it is a sport that can equalize an opponent by using technique along with your natural strengths.

The sport teaches discipline, patience, confidence and respect. My daughters are 13 now and even though they are young teenagers they are still eager to come to class. I too am always eager for class. The friends I have made and the skills I have learned will last a lifetime. If you think Jiu-jitsu isn’t your thing then try one of the Cardio Kickboxing classes or attend the Muay Thai class. I have attended every class at Coffey BJJ and each one is outstanding. The students are great the instructors are caring and qualified and the technique is second to none. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this team.

So I'm 47.

Before looking into Coffey BJJ, I never had a lick of martial arts training, nor a wrestling background. I have a desk job, a busy schedule, and a paunch that's fighting hard to make a permanent settlement on my mid section. Most guys my age are dropping their kids off at the Kid-Jitsu classes.

So what the heck is a guy like me doing here? That's easy. Jiu Jitsu is a metaphor for life: sometimes you cruise along, sometimes it throws you for a loop, and no matter what your age or how well you do, it's always humbling. Every time I train I'm reminded that life requires equal measures of mind, body and soul; blood, sweat and tears; planning, preparation and creativity. So, who cares if I'm 47? I'm not dead yet! And so long as I live I want this daily, metaphorical reminder of how to roll with life's blows.

It goes without saying that without excellent instruction, the above mentioned would just be an exercise in frustration. Chip Coffey, Sean Dyer, and Manu Ntoh are the best of the best. They're refined technicians, champion practitioners, passionate about their sport, and extraordinary teachers. With their help (and the help of my outstanding team mates), I'm staying healthy, learning a great set of skills, and having loads of fun.

Like I said before, Jiu Jitsu is a little slice of life and Chip Coffey expresses his world through it. He does it naturally, organically. He couldn't help it even if he wanted to; it's in his blood and it's who he is. Every day I walk out of a training session, I take a little of his Jiu Jitsu with me out into the world. I'm stronger, less stressed, and I roll with life's ups and downs a little more easily than I did before. If Jiu Jitsu is like life, Chip Coffey wants to make sure yours is a good one.

Come roll with us.

I consider myself lucky to have found Coffey BJJ and Fitness. In the 8 months I've been training I have lost weight, got in better shape and improved my BJJ immensely. Chip Coffey has a genuine passion for teaching. His instruction is top notch and his enthusiasm is infectious. I would encourage anyone interested in Brazilian jiu jitsu, to look no further.
